I'm assuming that you're referring the helmet mounted ones. You don't have to mount it on your helmet. Handle bar, engine guard, foot peg, floor board, tour pak luggage rack. I've seen them mounted on the lower fork.

I used mine a few times before our last road trip and a lot on the road trip, it takes a while to upload on line so I kind of got bored with the video. It does take good pictures as well and when mounted to your bike makes a stable platform to use for pictures of you and the Mrs if no one is around to take the picture for you, that's were the remote comes in handy. As far as the wind I just edit in some music.

Yes, definitely the helmet mount, but also when it's highly visible anywhere else. Not trying to down anyone else or what they do, but I just think "tacky" whenever I see it.

I use a ram mount that came with my power vision and move it between the crash bar like the videos you see there and my handle bar. On the handle bar I can grab it with out even looking at it and point in were I want it.
