They are used exclusively on aircraft and I mainly did if for the increased oil flow. Im using Schaeffers racing oil and they offer free oil analysis.
How to you clean the filter material?

Timmy, you may have overtightened it a bit...When they say hand tighten it's just that, turn until it makes a snug contact then 1/4-1/2 a TURN...If you over tighten the leaking may happen...As far as the filter is concerned, the WIX filter is a fine choice, hell i have used WIX, Fram, HD and something else i forget, 81000 miles on my bike...
Just ignore some of the a$$hat comments about affording it...Sheez...I hate over paying for $hit also...Like Tires, oil and filters...If i have to pay the piper it's one thing but just overpaying for the hell of it is just plain stoooopid.

I use warm water and Dawn dishwashing soap.

Here's the filter I have on all 3 of my bikes.

So the filter is filled up under pressure, but just soaked out.

I bought a Flo reusable filter cost around $100 bucks but you can see what if anything is in your oil + what I do is about 2500-3000 mile range is pull the filter and clean it put it back on. After 5 or 6 changes it's paid for itself.

$200.00 is a lot of regular filters... If it was better priced it would be appealing but $200.00 is 100000 miles of filters for me...If i am doing the math right... Still looks like a nice set up though...
