This is my first bat wing.... to swap out the shield do I just take out the 3 retaining bolts/screws or do all the bolts holding the fairing cover need to be loosened or removed?
So just the 3 screws at the shield not all the fairing screws is that what your saying?
Thats correct, just the front 3 screws is all thats required to change screens.
You learn something every day, i have always removed the screws, didnt realise you could change screens by just loosening them.
So just the 3 screws at the shield not all the fairing screws is that what your saying?
YES. Simply loosen the three (3) torx screws at the upper edge of the outer fairing. Grab the windshield from its outer edges and lift it out.
When you replace the windshield, use only an extension on your socket (not the wrench itself), then hand tighten; it's very easy to break the fasteners inside the fairing.
I have a 7" windsplitter coming thanks for help it's much appreciated
The reason i asked. When i replaced mine with the klock werks screen, i felt a huge difference. Almost 70% of the "dirty" wind was gone, but, it changed the handling on the front end, BIG TIME. It took a couple of rides for me to get used to the new ride..
