First day trip on the EGUC.
We did 280 miles of mostly highway driving. Some of the things I was really impressed with :
Cruise control----my god what an invention. It was so nice to set the cruise and just soak up the miles. It really does reduce fatigue.
Floorboards instead of pegs. Much more comfortable and way less vibration.
Fairing - The fairing and stock windshield were great in deflecting the wind (and bugs) over and around us. Once you get used to the extra weight on the handle bars, it's great.
Stereo - need I say more?? I do need to get my portable XM installed. I got tired of looking for FM stations.
6 spd - while cursing along at 65-70, the engine just plugs along at 2300-2500 rpm. It does make a difference in the mpg on highway trips. Under 50-55, I stayed in 5th.
Comfort - even after riding 280 miles, we both weren't overly tired and neither of us were sore at all. We didn't feel like we rode that far. We stopped once for lunch and once for a family visit. I think every 125 miles or so, I'd like a stretch anyway. Riding 250-300 miles a day will be easy. The bike rides super smooth!!
We both are very happy with the bike. I'll like it even better once I get more seat time and miles so I'm more confident in the slow speed stuff.
I totally get the hype about the touring bikes. I never could figure out how the miles were racked up on these bikes.....I understand it now.
Hey - now you know.

I'd like a #2 but I'll always have my FLHX. I love it. 72,000 km and counting.
The thing is I you shoot for some more power. A stage two might be the sweet spot. Might not. I went 120r and it is awesome.
But they all have a hiccup or two. Motor blew due to lifter failure. Rebuilt with the bottom end done and a higher torque cam. (662-2)
Maybe a 124" or a 145". Ha ha. It doesn't end. Do you have gps? Xm would be cool. Maybe I should look at it.
Enjoy.
Harry
