A friend of mine just returned to the area.
He has cash burning a hole in his pocket, and is thinking of trying to make a trade on a new scoot. He has an 09 Street Glide, with 35K on it paid for, and is wanting to see if he can throw 8K to boot and trade. I am trying to talk him out of it, for I think of the damage he (we) could do to the Street Glide with 8K.
Fuel Motos' 107 to start, and that still leaves $$$ for paint, wheels, you name it.
I have 6K into mine above and beyond, but it didn't come all at once, it has been a process. Can't imagine having 8K to go banzai with all at once.
What would you's do in this situation, just fun to hear........
If your buddy's yearning for a trade into new scoot...who's to stop him.
IMO, if he's dead-set on trading, have him wait until end-of-year when dealers need to balance books & they're looking for more profit-margin. More eager to swing better deal when bikes are sitting right after holidays...good luck!

Me being the voice of reason, which he has thanked me for in the past.
For me, it's time in the garage wrenching vs time on the road riding.
I much rather be riding. And there's still lots of projects around the house that need to be finished...
Have him try to sell it outright.
He's more likely to get what he wants out of it $$$ wise.
Otherwise he's just going to get mad when he goes to trade.
Trade in on what? A 14 SG? Best thing to do is go in and ride whatever he thinks he wants. That will tell the tale. He'll either love it and need to have it or he may be ho-hum on the idea of spending all that money for some new lines and an infotainment unit. He may well ride it and discover it's not a helluvalot better than what he has therefore the extra cash should go into the add ons of the old bike. Riding the new one will be the deciding factor.
whats he looking at getting? no way i would trade it for new SG, 08 and under i would trade but he already has the new frame so he can pretty much build what ever new bike he is looking at. but im also one who loves to build
He is keen on the idea of dropping at FM for the 107 upgrade, and that would still leave him $5500 (+ -) to do paint, wheels, or whatever tripped his trigger..
He doesn't really have a specific one in mind, but does like the orange whiskey or whatever the new SG color is. He could get his painted (which is vivid black) for less than the $5500 he will have left after the 107.
He just got back to the area and we are heading out shopping over the next couple of weekends.
I am of the belief I wouldn't want a new one if I could trade my 12 straight up, for then I have to start over, and I have mine right where I like it. He hasn't put allot on his 09 but has a few things.
