I have a 2011 with 33,850 miles on it. Very few problems, and what ones I did have were taken care of promptly with no further issues.
If I had to pick, I'd want a 2014. Bigger motor, comes with the handle bars a lot of us had to buy extra, still air cooled, and those new bag latches are freaking awesome!!
I'm seriously considering getting a 2014 once the 2015 comes out so I can get the best possible deal. But that will depend on what the 2015 is like.
The MM fuel injection is fine and repairable. The older road kings also had forged cranks, tapered wheels bearings and other positives. Change the cam change tensioners on any of the older ones( or at least check em). Twin Cam road kings with fuel injection began in 1999..you can get carburated ones up thru the early 2000's. You can find 1999-2001s cheap and ride them for ever( i have seen several with over 100k on them). i loved my 1999 but finally traded for a 2013 for the upgraded motor and frame but it cost a pretty penny.
