Hey folks, was wanting some reviews on the 07 ultra classic. Am thinking about buying one, but have been reading several unhappy reviews. Mostly about the heat from the rear cyclinder. Thanks for any real rider reviews.
I could go into a long-winded spill about how I love mine, but you wouldn't feel the love one bit.
I tell you this, if I didn't like my UC....I'd sell or trade it in and that ain't happening no time soon. I could have any bike I want within reason and the '07 UltraClassic is the one I'm sticking with.
Besides, the wife would divorce me........she's hooked.
Understand that it is an aircooled bike so the heat issue is less of an issue with synthetic oils and a better breath'n motor........stage I.
Well, I got a free lunch one time and it was too hot, portion was too small, didn't taste right, wasn't what I wanted, service was slow...
Since I bought my 07 Ultra last August, my Road King has less than 100 miles on it while the Ultra is just this side of 4000. My wife fell asleep sitting on the back of the Ultra, which would have NEVER happened on the RK.
I went the Rinehart/SERT/SE AC route and there's not enough heat coming off the engine now to keep my hands warm... of course it's not mid-summer yet so that "could" change. Only real complaint is that it isn't been as "nimble" for around town riding as I would have hoped, but then again the Ultra really is about the open road, not so much as an around town ride.
P.S.....I'll let you know more how I feel about mine when I get back fromANOTHER 3-day 1500 mile trip this coming weekend. That'll be (3) 1500 mile tripsthis month on my Stallion......LOL!
Bought my 07 Ultra on Dec 23. It has 2500 miles on it and that's with me working about 70+hr weeks the last month and a half. She was hot when i first bought her.
Had Premium Oil cooler installed, then SE Street Performance Slip-Ons put on as well as the SE A/C and download. Switched oil to Syn3. She runs much cooler and the stage 1 changes really woke the bike up. She handles beautifully and looks good to boot.
I did add the rjoriginals heat shields to protect my thighs.
Would i do it all over again? you bet. the wife loves it and as others have said, she's fallen asleep in the backseat!
heat issue has really subsided after break-in,oil cooler, synth. oil, ecm download,,,dont know whitch one did what, but in traffic its now is a hell of a lot better. when I first got bike I wanted to jump off at a stop sighn! now 1/2 hour in traffic is just noticeable as to what you would expect.love my classic turned to ultra. I too could have pritty much bought any bike and am glad I choice this one even more after the sale.
noise issues, well ...not any worse than other hd ive ridden?
Love mine. Picked it up in late August I have a 10 mile ride to work everyday and I now have 4k and some change logged. My 01 RKC dosent get much riding anymore. I have now been spoiled by the UC. I tackled the heat with a SERT. I am going to the autotune thundermax once I have enough spare cash saved up.
JL
ok i bought my 07' in august late in the month and i was very unhappy with it for the 1st month or 2 but since i have done the following in this order
1. i put v & h ovalsslipons on imediately so i could here the bike
2.i bought the heatshields from rjoriginals they really look great and they work great too!!! get these trust me they are worth it!!!!!
3. rode from nj to portsmouth va. in oct almost got burned off the bike in traffic
wife fell asleep on the ride down way too comfy!!!!!
4. iput on the screamin eagle high airflow box - ran better still hot!
5.i took the bike in for the recall on torque smoothing helped alittle
and finally
6. i had the sert installed and took the bike down here to florida where i have been riding since feb. as of this day i have clocked 2500 miles (i trailereddown) on temp.days from mid 60's to high 80's sat in traffic in labelle for almost an hour in 80+ degrees and i am ecstatic with the way the bike rides, runs and handles the sert was the final key to the puzzle cost some $ but well worth the outcome wife and i just returned from a 3 day jaunt from venice,fl to key west and loved every stinkin mile!!!!!!!!!!!
my only regret?
unfortunately i will have to go back home by the beginning of april.
