I am putting on a BUB cross dresser header system to my '00 RK.
I have the old exhaust off and am ready to put the new one on.
The question is, I slip the newthe flange on , now how do I get the slip ring on, to holdthe flangeon?
I feel your pain. I installed Rinehart TD's on my 2000 FLHTCI this past weekend. Had the same problem, and I could not get the snap ring to go over the exhaust header manually.
So, I went to an auto parts store (Advanced Auto Parts) and bought a pair of snap ring pliers that are used to put on piston compression rings and it worked like a charm. Had to use this since the exhaust retainers don't have holes, just raw ends. I think I paid around $10 for the pliers. Dang good investment.
I'm sure Mike is right if you know what you're doing, I just didn't know how to do it manually (or not enough muscle to force it on). Pliers worked for me.
Here's a link on eBay for identical pliers (Piston Ring Pliers).
Thanks Guys,
I tried to slip it on, and It was just a hair off, couldn't stretch it no more.
Didn't think of snap ring pliers, thanks Taterdog. I was ready to bend it, and said stop and ask
there has to be an easy way to do it.

I am going with the Fullsac TruDual setup with the recored muffs, the ness big sucker AC and the Daytona Twin Tuner. Seems to be the best bang for the buck...AND I dont have to pay the stealership to do it....
I put Rinehart true duals on mine last weekend. Going the true dual route seems to really clean up the bike. I've got the Big Sucker AC, too, but I added the PCIIIUSB. Haven't taken it out for a good ride yet -- plan to tomorrow evening or Saturday.
Good luck with your system.
BTW, be careful. When I put my bike on my craftsman lift, pulled the saddlebags and old exhaust, then installed the newer (heavier) exhaust, the balance changed slightly. When I went to put the bags back on I must have upset the apple cart 'cause the rear end of my bike rocked back. I ALMOST had a real problem. Luckily two of my sons were home to help me rebalance the bike and lower the lift without a problem. I should have lowered the bike BEFORE reinstalling the bags. Lesson learned!!!
