i dont know much on hte 254E cams but i know personally i wouldnt waste my money on a 255 set up, i ahve few friends that got them from our dealer (they push a package deal of V&H Power duals and monster rounds/ovals, SE tuner and 255 cams for $2700). what a joke

255 cam pulls hard very low but falls on it's face rather quickly.

254e cam pulls hard low to mid-range but pulls wide. makes it a great bagger cam for those folks who don't want to go 0 to 3rd gear in .09 seconds. :-)

254s are more mid range than 255s but little more power. I wouldn't waste money on 255s or 254s. If you have a 103 and need/want to stay with SE cams 204s are a good choice. Add a thinner head gasket plus high ratio rockers to them and enjoy.

The SE-255 cam is what comes standard on the Touring CVO's; accordingly you can get low-mileage take-offs cheap on E-bay.
Suggest you get a copy of the Screamin' Eagle Parts catalogue (free at the dealer) for a complete run down on cam criteria. It is very informative.

If your going to spend the $ to have someone install, Id look at the SE 204 before the 255 , the 255 is a very mild cam and pulls strong low but falls off early. even the 254e is a better mid range cam but overall IMO the SE 204 is the best choice for the widest usable power band. I dont have one in my 103 yet but plan on it when I decide to open it up, I did uses the 204 on my fatboy and was very happy with the results

I agree with many here. The SE204 is a really good drop in cam for a 96 or 103. If you are building a 103 with the SE204 cam, do yourself a favor and put in compression releases if you don't already have them.

A 96/103 SE Stage 2 Kit with SE254E's (#92500003) was in my '11 SG 103 when I bought it. It was marginal at best. I never intended keeping the motor at the stock displacement and it quickly became the 107" it is now. It put down 87rwhp/103rwt when the baseline dyno runs were made before the 107" build. That was with V&H PD's, 2-1/4" Bassani Megaphones and a SE HB.

Think about the power increase you are looking for, where in the rpm range you want that power to be and weigh it against the costs.

If you are interested, here is the curve ....

I looked at the specs and The 254E is not much better than a 255 if any. The SE 204 would be a much better choice. The 254 can still meet emission standards. Really high center line of 112 and overlap of 5 degrees. The 204 has a 104 centerline and 30 degrees overlap. That is probably why you don't see too much about it. The 204 is advanced 8 degrees more than the 254e and has the timing numbers for better topend.

the main difference between the 255 and the 254e is the fact that the 254e will pull wider and further to the right of the curve vs the 255 falling on it's face about 3500-ish. 255 is EPA compliant, the 254e is not.
