Ineed some ideas. After se3 cam, se air, red injecters, rinehart t.d. and pc111 i am having starting problems.I did set throtle to 0%.Before mods. i did have an idle issue, it would change idle rpmwhen riding. You never knew what rpm it would be when youcam to a stop. I did have it dyno tuned. What do you guys think? I posted this on the evo forum also. Oh it is a 97 FLHRI
There have been other posts about delayed starting with PCIII's. The wire they use to power the unit with their standard hookup is hot while the fuel pump is pressuring up, then it is 'off' until you hit the starter button. The PCIII re-starts its internal startup process and runs through it while your engine is spinning with no fuel. Try hitting the starter button just before the fuel pump is done pressurizing your system.
Thanks for the replys. It is not a pc111 delay this is a 97 to old for that. i am going to change plugs again after that give it the spray test on the intake. When i try to start it it putts and pops what do you think about low fuel pressure?
I fired the bike up with new plugs still had the putt and pop had to kiss its a** to get it to start. I sprayed the intake with some carb cleaner got rpm change on the back cylinder. I guess i need to put new seals in. Dose that sound rite?
Bad map sounds like, best is to get it dyno tuned or try a different map for now. PCIII delay is only on 06/07 models. Sure you have the correct PCIII for your year and efi system?, that bike has a different efi system even from a 99 and different from 02 up.
Gunrunner i did have it dyno tuned and the pc111 is for a 97/98 evo. Dose anybody know if the intake gaskets can be replaced with out taking thegas tank loose?
Well I pulled the intake gaskets today they have no life left in them. Looks like they should be changed after about 5 or 6 years. Now i got to want till the dealer decides to reopen after our big snow storm here in pa. to get new gaskets.
1)do not forget to disconnect battery to erase any trouble codes you picked-up during the difficult starts..if you are fuel inj. these historical trouble codes that are stored will cause the check engine light to come on and off..
easy to read if you have the manual..no special tools needed.
2)if you have the gas tank off and if you are fuel inj. check the front fuel line to injector, this line will begin to leak after about 5 years..easy to change once tank removed.
Thanks for the info im. I did replace both fuel lines last fall one was leaking at the tank the other was about rubbed through on the horn bracket. I will do the battery when done. Going to replace the temp.sensor while tank is off also.
