I prefer Seafoam. I saved a small empty Stabil bottle that I use to measure the Seafoam. During the winter, I keep that small bottle full of Seafoam on the bike, and after a ride on my way home, I stop near the house and fill up and add treatment. Bike is always parked in the garage with a full tank of fuel - treated in the winter, just premium rest of the time.
SeaFoam is 40-60% Mineral Oil which which must be what he says will coat the inside of the carbs, 25-35% Naphtha and 10-20% Isopropanol (Isoproyl Alcohol). Good stuff, but I prefer to stablized the fuel to keep water attracted by the ethanol from separating. A full tank is step # 1 or drain the tank #2.
Stabil is 90% petroleum distilates and StarTron is 5% organic compounds and 90% Naphtha. Stabil is an emulsifier, meaning it attracts water to it's molecules. The more water the larger the micro ***** of water. Startron uses a inorganic enzyme action, that breaks the water up instead of collecting it into *****. Both keep the water from separating when properly used. You can overload all these products by leaving your tank 1/2 full (1/2 empty).
Keep your tank full, add something (mineral oil, light engine oil, 2 cycle oil, SeaFoam, Stabil or Startron) and if carbed, run the gas out of the carbs and bowl. Then hang on until spring.
I have used Stabil for years in all my wet winter storage mowers to bikes. Never let me down. I add it to every can of utility fuel used for mowers and the snowblower because of the slow rate of use and I never ever have an issue.
Is it safe to add Sta-bil to the tank and still take the bike out for ride if the weather permits it in the winter months? Sometimes the bike will sit for one or two months and other months I can be riding every week. TIA
Yep already been out on two of those rides this year. Just add more Stabil and gas. I think the fun is over in NJ now
I use Stabil in my bikes and classic car every winter.
