I use a Garmin 1350LMT mounted just to left side on handlbar. I use the regular ball and socket mount. But ordered a handlebar mount from eBay for 5 or 6 dollars. Clamps on handlebar and works great. I can turn it up loud enough to hear it over the road noise. I bought one of those waterproof cases that enclosed the unit, however, I could not hear the instruction thru the case. I have installed a power scoket just under the right side just behind the rear head and run a power cable under the chrome tank trim plate, wire comes out at front of gas tank.

Here's one option that worked for me…

RAM makes a mount for most Garmin GPSs, and Kuryakyn makes a good quality fuel door that integrates a GPS holder. The RAM mount will bolt to the modified fuel door. (The door can be changed with the stock door with only two bolts/nuts to worry about--5 minute swap).

If you want to get fancy, you can run the GPS power cord up the inside of the console, from the battery, notch the fuel door, and bring the cord out to the GPS through the notch (stowing the end of the cord in the fuel-cap compartment when the GPS is not being used). When the cord is stowed, you still have the 'notch'. If that doesn't bug you too much, then maybe this is an option.

This will place the GPS right there almost literally 'under your nose'. You can hear the instructions, and see them very clearly while riding.

Cost is: about $20-40 for the RAM, and $80 or so for the door (I got a used one on eBay for about 1/4 that). The most difficult part of the install is running the power cord up the inside of the console from the battery…and making the access route into the fuel-cap compartment, including notching the Kury fuel door in order to bring the cord out.

I used the RAM-B-309-1U clutch/brake ball mount on my Sportster with a Garmin GPS. It worked great and I liked that is was not as obvious as the U-bolt clamp on handle bar mounts when you are not using the GPS. Plan to use this set up on my, new to me, Electra Glide. G.B.

Default Motorcycle GPS Mounts

Here's another option to consider. Mounts for bar, brake/clutch, windshield, etc. Waterproofing options (if that's your thing) and also info on powering/USB (if you need that). American made, family owned. Here's a tips & hints page with recommendations for various models of GPS: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/gpsguide.htm - very helpful.

I have a 2009 Ultra and would like to mount this GPS on the bike. It seems the only place that it will mount and not be in the way or block the dash is where the left pocket is on my windshield bag. Im looking for suggestions on how to go about this. Anyone have this GPS mounted to the dash? Part #s? Where to purchase? Pics? Where and how to run the power cable and where to hook it?

Thanks.
so, you bought a used car, and the seller left his GPS under the seat, most likely not intentional. Me, I'd offer to return it.

Car was bought through a friend who is a dealer. He got it for me at the Manhiem Auction in Houston. May have been a trade or a repo. Who Knows. No way to find the past owner. Had it been a private sale I would have returned it.

I ordered a RAM mount kit from GPScity.com. should be here in a few days.

I saw the chrome ones. A little to pricey for the amount of time this thing will be on the bike.

Had a Lowrance and Garmin unit mounted (at separate times) on the bars of my '06 Ultra, used a Ram Mount. I used the medium (4.3") arm length and was able to position it so it blocked just a little of the fuel gauge (on the full side), worked fine for me. Sometimes they're a PIA to position just right so they don't obstruct anything...good luck!
