i think they are awesome, i really was thinking of going this route for my RG to be something diff until i saw i had to cut, no turning back from that if i dont like it with a custom paint job.

What do you expect, everyone to ooohhhh and ahhhhh over your handlebars, cause they're unique(ugly)?

Get used to it.
Furthermore IMO. baggers look stupid w/"apes".
Oh and another thing, the lid covers are for the occasional kick by the wife and sometimes myself, not that you are due any explanation. it helps them from getting scuffed.

That's cool looking !! Are you leaning forward when your riding as in arms locked straight or are you in a relaxed position elbows bent. I guess the answer would depend more on your arm reach and your seat height. When you get a chance could you post up a side shot?
