204's are a great all around cam, most people put to big a cam in their bikes and don't
know the difference one way or the other. It is not how much lift a cam has, then it's
more about duration and cam timing. 204's have good power and torque and will pull
good in the mid range, not like the 255's that are a big low end cam that runs out of steam
on the top end. JMO
In order of importance: 1.Idle lope 2.Torque from 2500-4000 3.Heat, does anything beat an SE 204 for a stage 1 103 Bagger?
SE255. Idle lope is better, just about the same. 2.Torque is amplified x3 from idle to 4K+. No more heat.
If you want more PULL, and have c/r on your bike, pick up a good set of SE 255's and install them!
Yes you can spend more $$$, get better dyno sheets, but don't think you will get a better road bike!
I ride 2K-3K, revving to 4+ when in a hurry, SE255's are the best add on to the 09FLHTP I have done. FM map is spot on. Will ride it all next season and see what additions will be needed next winter!
If lope is most important thing there are lots of "big" cams that are better. Of course 2500-4000 is not their long suit. If ya want lope ya don't want fuel injection. 204s (designed as bolt in for SE 95 kits and one of the few non-epa SE cams) may be the best SE/HD cam (not saying much) for a stage 1 103 but very hard to beat Andrews 57 in a stage 1 103 imho. That is what it was designed for...

After allot of reading, searching, HDF opinions and local mech's advise (for my ac,exhaust and so on...) I settled on the SE204. Very happy.
I can't speak of the others but if I had to pick another cam and make changes to suit them I would look at SE255 / Andrews 48 -or- SE254e/Andrews 57H. Based on what I've learned here without getting radical.

Tman 555 works really good in the 103's,I myself run the S&S 570's in one of mine but had the heads off so we tighten the comp. up to 10/1, they also worked really great to.
All the lope in the world ain't gonna make your bike fun to ride. Andrews 48 is the non emission version of a se255. Of all the bikes I've owned, the 48 is the only cam choice that ever exceeded my expectations.
Here is what a 2009FLHT with a stage 4 103ci with SE204 Cams with CFR mufflers sound like. Can't embed the video here for some reason, so just click the link!
