Default Mistake?? Painted chrome

Hey guys just a quick question. I have all the chrome pieces off my 05 road king police. I've read everywhere about how to paint them. My problem is I've already got them prepped, primed, and a few coats of satin black on them. Reading now, I should have used high temp paint. Is it absolutely necessary? I really don't want to sand everything again. Guess I should have specified what I was painting in the search google search bar.

Thanks

You didn't say what the parts are. If they are heat related like the exhaust pipes then start sanding.

Sorry. Rocker covers, transmission top cover, primary cover clutch cover, and cam cover.

I dont think those parts need hi temp paint. I painted my engine cases, tranny, and cylinder fins with HD texture black and theyre holding up fine, even been through the Colorado flood rains last summer.

Those catch a lot of heat.
I would.
Especially the rocker covers.

Powder coating would be a better option.

You could always let it go as is, and then re-sand and paint if needed.

Alright I was just curious because a lot of the posts I've seen say to use rustoleum self etching primer. Right on the can it says not to use on surfaces that get hotter than 200 degrees. What would be the point of high temp paint if the primer isn't?

I agree with that just make sure they are prepped right. I had my covers S.E. wrinkle coated and have to redo them because it is lifting in areas
