My filter is cone shaped and fully exposed. I'm aware that the pink color is caused by the filter oil used. Even after thoroughly cleaning, the filter gauze is still pinkish. I know it's petty, but I really dislike it. I've searched for a black or gray colored paper / gauze filter and found one on the Dennis Kirk web site. The only problem is that there is no reference to size in diameter or length. Arlen Ness makes a clear air filter oil.
My S E Air Cleaner has stamped on it "Do not oil".
The manual describes how to wash it, but do not oil.
