Default Oil change question

Hi all. I pick up my new 07 Ultra this week! I am going to change the oil after the first 50 miles. My question is do you drain the bike on the jiffy stand or straight up and down? I also have a lift. Is it better to lift the bike when changing( then it would obviously be straight). I checked the owners manual and the service manual and neither specifies. I just want to maximize the drainage to get out as many breakin particles as possible. Thanks.

I did mine on my lift, was easier, and gave me a chance to scope things out underneath.

I always change mine on the Jiffy. Since the crankcase drain plug is on the left side, the oil all flows out that way when on the jiffy. Same for the primary. The only time the bike has to be straight up is for draining the trans. A lift is great, but not neccessary for lube changes.

Ride until oil at operating temp-at least 20 min. If you are changing oil at 50 miles use dino so you don't waste money

Why in the world would you change the break in oil at 50 miles? Put 1000 miles on it and change everything then - I have been told by those who should know that the first oil has a good group of additives which will enhance the longevity of you engine.

I was wondering the same thing. Why would want to change oil at 50 miles? Change it at 1000 per manufacturer specs. Believe it or not HD has done research on this.

A 50 mile oil change is a waste of time, money and material. 1K is soon enough.
