Default Question regarding windshields

I'm trying to find the right windshield that will allow me to look over it (instead of through it) and will prevent the wind from blowing my my sunglasses when I hit 70+MPH.

I have a 2012 SG with the standard seat. I'm 5'11" and I currently use a shield that sits from the top of the windshield trim to the top of the shield at a bit more than 7.5".

As stated, I'm looking for a windshield that'll block the wind from blowing off my shades while I'm doing 70+. I know there are several companies out there but I'm looking to narrow the search down.

So, which companies, products and windshield size.

Gang, thanks for your help!

I use the stock H-D Lexan windscreen.

and then cut the bottom ( hidden) edge with a rotozip to desired height, some use a jig saw or dremel

I find that if the top edge "appears" to intersect the road about 45' in front of the bike, the windblast will hit right where my hairline used to be.

ball caps and my rx glasses will stay in place

i can usually buy a take off windscreen for about $35.

as I swap seats around, and thus seated height- I swap windscreens to match. opening up the keyholes on the windscreen makes that quicker and easier

the H-D lexan is optically good, tough and with the stock profile ( no "recurve"), the rider can tuck into it in crap weather, look through it at night.

mine are cut at about -1.5", -2" and -3" ( ultra, streetglide, brawler seats)

if you are keeping score...I am at under $75 for 3 custom sized and cut windscreens...and about 30 minutes total incl clean up and putting the tools away.

Default fastaire - recurve

I can't recall where I read this but it worked perfectly for me. you will need a buddy.

Set a can on level ground 50 feet in front of your bike. Have a buddy slowly slip up a piece of cardboard until you can just see the can while your seated IN YOUR RIDING POSITION not with perfect posture if thats not how you ride. measure the cardboard from the top to the bolt holes and that is the height you want.

i bought a Klock Werks 8 inch. I couldnt wear a knit cap with my 8 inch straight plain windshield before. It would blow off. Now it stays on no problem. Im 6foot 1. I highly recommend it. It works great.

^^^This. Check my signature for pics. Stock shield was as if it was non existant. 7" Ultra shield and glasses are still at 80. I'm 6' tall.

LRS 7" all the way. 5'9" and it is perfect for me. BTW, I chose medium tint.

Did a 1000 mile iron butt (and 1000 miles back) with an 8" LRS Ultra Recurve in dark tint. I'm also 5'11" and this was with the stock ultra seat which sits maybe an 1" higher. I'm happy with the results and it looks a lot better than the 14" stock shield.

That being said I used a full faced modular helmet for that trip but I use a half helmet and a SC seat for riding around local (w/o tourpak) and still love the 8" LRS.

Considering a 10" LRS Recurve for the long rides I have planned for this year (SC to Sturgis and back).

I am 5'11" and I use an 8" Clearview recurve. I look right over the top and the screen blows the wind higher than my head. I really like it and its in medium tint. I also have the stock seat on a 12 SG
