you got the right bike; I rode my neighbors soft tail to the dealer 50+ miles to trade it for a RG - what a horrible ride on the highway - I had told him prior to getting the soft tail to ride a touring bike - he's now on his 2nd RG.

Oh bullshit

He has adjustable air suspension front and rear, a feature that Harley found too expensive for your bike.

He has wheel bearings that actually last 100,000 miles, unlike those spooky cheapos Harley put in your bike.

He's got a hot forged crank wth Timken Lefty bearing. You can buy that for your bike. Its in the Screamin' Eagle High Performance Parts book. But you'll need to straighten out your out of round cast crankshaft first.

He can buy upgraded brakes ( I never found the need to personally,) and tightening up the swingarm is a $200 swap out to Nylatron bushings. And a 95" Stage II (cams and big bore,) puts out more Hp & Tq than a 110" CVO.

His throttle opens with a cable, yours doesn't.

Oh yeah, if he takes care of it he might get 140,000 miles out of his ride. (That's where I am now.) Wanna' bet that yours can do it ? (Save your money.... It can't. )

Harley should make them as good today as they did back then.

So don't diss the man's ride. He's actually got a better bike than you do.

Nice looking bike, my previous bike before my Ultra was a 98 Fatboy. I won't knock a softail because I really liked the Fatboy for short low rpm runs. At 65 mph the Fatboy just was not comfortable for lengthy runs. Touring bike is so much smoother. They have their trade offs. Enjoy.

Better late than never. You might want to lay off the coffee by the looks of your avatar photo ( if that's you).

First glance, thought you'd bought a new one; that bike sure has been taken care of. I love the (by today's standards) raw feel of a sporty, takes me back to my early days when most bikes were pretty rough, though few at that time had the power of a 1200. But a touring Harley is a whole different creature, love my old Glide, too. It's S&S motor shakes it like a paint mixer at stoplights, but once those wheels turn, it's really smooth. Rides like a two wheel Town Car - but thankfully, it handles better. Having both is great.

Can pretty much say the same about my '89, although with an S&S in it, doesn't need any engine work. It's spread over the garage floor, on shelves, and a bunch of it's in the basement right now, but when it goes back on the road, it'll have a new and better swingarm pivot, brakes, geared taller, and upgraded or just replaced parts; goes back together as planned, wouldn't want to trade it for a new one, then I'd have to do a lot of that work all over again...

I road tested a 2010 Limited, maybe the 103 might have made a diff but I doubt that. I like my 1999 Ultra better. It was easy to walk away. The six speed was nice though. Nice find on your 2000 OP, looks well taken care of & they are nice.
