I have been searching the forums and watching YouTube videos until my friggin eyeballs fall out. Manufacturer says basically plug and play with A/T. Just plug in the unit and the O2 sensors and forget about it (which is exactly what I want)
Then, I read all of these posts about adjusting this and that. Pinging, and hesitating and loading maps (why would I load a map when it is in A/T? Serious question). I really am not looking to adjust. Just want a "self-regulating" fuel management system that works well (not looking for absolute precision) and I don't have to think about.
To boot, I haven't really seen a lot of posts talking about how different the bike feels. Any thoughts on on any of this? Thanks!
I loaded the closest map for how mine was modified. (2012 RKC) & uploaded latest update to correct shift light. been riding for 2 years. Of course you can tweak anything.
A map needs to be present as the starting point for the auto-tune. You have to start somewhere, and preferably, as close as you can get (with regard to the map) to where you need to end up. If you can, get the seller to load an initial map for you (that matches your bike) so all you have to do is install the hardware and ride. Otherwise, if the seller doesn't do this, it would be your responsibility to load a map that matches (or at least comes close to) your hardware configuration (air-cleaner, pipes, etc.) on the bike.
I had a TMax on my 2005 RK. I really liked it. I'm not putting one on my 2014 though, as I have the 2-year warranty and the extended warranty beyond that, and I don't want to jeopardize those. I suppose I could pull it off, and put the stock ECM back on, and the stock O2 sensors prior to taking the bike in to the dealer but what a PITA. FYI, one other thing to note about the TMax is, it doesn't implement the anti-knock function. This didn't appear to be an issue on my 05 (it didn't 'knock') at least, that I could hear.

Looks like the ThunderMax is not yet available for 2014s. Does the Power Vision A/T require welding on the 2014s?
I spoke with an Indy here in Denver. They were an authorized seller for ThunderMax and they told me that TMax was having internal company issues and they weren't sure when or if a Tmax would be available for the '14s. They talked me into a Power Vision and I'm happy with it. As for welding, It depends on your exhaust system. I installed MGS True Duals and they have 18mm bungs and 12mm bungs so no welding required.

Not sure where your indy got his info from but don't think that's true. I live 2 miles down the road from Zippers and they informed Old Glory HD here that the Thundermax will be out sometime this week or next. NOW whether that happens or not will left to be seen.

Internet rumors and secondhand info aside, Zippers/Thunderheart started shipping 2014 FLH Thundermax units this week however there will be limited availability initially. We will have a handful of units in hand later this week, we will post more info in our newsfeeds/facebook page
