Default 2006 street glide oil pressure warning

Hi, I live in Puerto Rico weather about 90 degrees when I ride my 2006 Street Glide with Stage 1 only with 8000 miles on it, my concern is that while I'm driving at normal speed with stop and go on traffic lights or on the highway my bike stays at normal oil pressure 15-32 when cool even higher than 32 but when in traffic for a while the pressure drops down to 0 and sometimes when I get to my destination I notice the red oil pressure warning blinking. After a while when I take of the pressure goes back to normal. The previous owner used 60 grade harley oil and formula+ on trans and primary and I went to the Harley dealer and they recommended SE Harley 20-50 sync on all 3 which I did and I am still having the same problem. Appreciate any suggestions.

An oil pressure sending unit is about 30 bucks. Might give you piece of mind to change it or at a min....pull it and clean the end of it with a degreaser or lighter fluid. In real hot weather it's not uncommon for oil psi to drop to 5-8 psi. I'd swap the sending unit.

Check your owners manual, as it may recommend using a heavy oil for those temperatures. If you get over 80 degrees regularly I would use 50 or 60 grade, certainly not 20/50. That alone may restore your pressures to the levels Gliden mentioned.

Here is the answer above. Your 20-50 (especially the brand you are using) is thinning too much in the heat, and it is not uncommon for the oil light to come on under those circumstances.

Also, what is your idle speed? When I slow my bike's idle down to enjoy the potato potato sound, I notice my oil pressure drops very low (I have a tach and a gauge). At 1000 rpm idle it has good oil pressure.

Perhaps the prior owner dropped idle below spec to sound cool. If so you could put it back to spec and likely solve the problem.

If you really want to know what your oil pressure is you could install a gauge, they are readily available from HD or aftermarket. I'd certainly do that before I tore into the engine.
