Not sure what bike the OP has but in some old posts the dealers were keeping warranty in place if upgrades were done by them with HD kit parts. That may be important to some folks. Have not done this but I suspect that warranty coverage only applies to the specific dealers warranty coverage and not transfer to other dealers or extended warranties.

Yea but like you said, "it's about twice that".

all other parts....Cams, heads, pistons are all the same. Both kits still need you to buy jugs at another $299.95. I would not just hone my Originals with the new pistons.
It is the legal kit. I will have to add head pipe, intake, and tuner.

It is a 14 SGS, and yes, dealer installed warranty is would be the selling point.

IIRC, there are two Stage IV 103 kits shown in the 2013 SE performacne catalog. The only difference being one kit is for 96" motors and includes cylinders while the other kit is for 103" motor and does not include cylinders; other than that, the kits are identical and are referred to as SE Pro Stage IV kit. The kit with the cylinder retails for $2,499 and the kit without retails for $2,249. The PNs for these various kits are 92500010, 92500005, 27516-08D and 27517-08D.

There is a third Stage IV kit which is not shown in the catalog, the Street Performance kit which is for 103" motors and does not included cylinders, SEST or hi-flow injectors; it retails for $1,849. The PN is 92500011 and this kit "maintains" the factory warranty which the two previously referenced kits do not. Of course, the dealer may warrant any of the three kits.

So, you didn't mention model and year of bike which will make a difference in choosing a kit. If a 96"er one kit and if a 103"er another. I would advise that you get the PN of the kit the dealer is offering so you know exactly what you are paying for.

EDIT: While I was typing you posted the model/year and that the kit does not include the tuner which tells me that the kit the dealer is offering is 92500011 since the other kits include the tuner. If dealer warranty is important, this is the kit for you. I don't know what the dealer cost is to buy the kit from the mothership but I assume for something less than the suggested retail price. So, you are paying somewhere around $400-$500 for labor and oil. Book hours for a cam change is 4 hours and I suspect book allows 8 hours for a cam and top end change. 8 hours at $75/hour is $600. So, while the deal may not be a great deal, IMHO, it is a fair deal particularly considering the warranty issue.

Well the advantage is if you can keep the "factory" (not just dealer) warranty? Kit says only if installed before delivery???
