YOU KNOW THE TYPE...
I have been a LEO for over 19 years. Started out patrolling our Borders along the Mexican Border as a Border Patrol Agent. After a few years of that, I became a U.S. Marshal. I have worked with and seen all kinds of LEOs during my 19 years of service. I have been called many names, been given the "finger" many times, been shot at down on the Border and have had a number of violent offenders run from me, resist me and even had a number of "law abiding citizens" give me **** simply because my job duties cause me to interfere with their freedom and liberty, albeit only a few minutes.
You, with your ticket book and ego, are what's wrong with many LEOs in our society! As you can see from the many posts, many of the riding public don't agree with your tactics. Sounds like you need to grow a thicker skin, or better yet, stop wasting your time onpunks who give you the "finger" and concentrate on using your "authority" to "protect" the citizens of your jurisdiction and arrest the violent offenders who prey on them. Sorry to bag on a fellow LEO, but your attitude is what gives "cops" a bad name with the honest tax payers................

"Serve & Protect" Protect-thats funny cause I can protect myself better than some weenie cop can Serve-I will let you know when I get hungry, so til then just keep cruising the donut shops impressing the chicks with that cool uniform and don't forget to wear them cool hats cause usually it completes the look and makes your mommys proud!!!!!

Personally, good or bad, I am still thankful that we haveaforce out there. We on occasion, have needed their services to help ussettle a situation, and am thankful that they came through for us.
gliderman: I have to say thank you for your response. Not to rub salt on other members who have posted their opinion, butit's always refreshing to know that there are others out there that still have conscience and integrity, not to mention self restraint.
Drinking and riding just ain't smart.
Now I'm parked for the night before the Jack is cracked. Although it may be the reason I ride alittle faster at the end of the day.
Nightride = first off, thank you for your service - I have been a Firefighter for 34 years and I have been stopped a few times driving faster than I should have one on the bike.... Each time in the car. I pull over keep my hands on the wheel - if it is night time, I always turn on the interior light and have the window down as the officer walks up... I NEVER start an attitude - whats the use... One the bike, again, just pull over and keep my hands ON the bars and wait for Their instruction... So far I have been lucky and just been ask to slow down... I would rather run into burning buildings than have to deal with some of the butt heads I have seen on the street... again, thanks for your service..
I don't think so. More likely being part of the fraternity saved you from the tickets that me and everybody else that aren't in the club have gotten. I know the drill. I've witnessed it. My buddy is a in charge of the entire parole system for a metro-Detroit area county. When ever he gets pulled over by one of his 'brothers' he pulls out his wallet, which not only contains his license but his badge and ID. If the cop happens to see it (which my buddy ensures that he does) he's issued a verbal and dismissed. How many tickets has he gotten?
Zero.
No disrespect intended, I don't even know you, and I appreciate what you firemen do, but I'd hardly call that "lucky".

My only question here is what is your take on the Chicago cop thats been all over the news beating the hell out of some poor bartender thats half his size? Is that some of the training of which you speak Nightglide? I am still going with the no respect or trust till you earn it. Sorry but that is what I have experinced in my 53 years.
Interesting thread.
That is about an understatement...
Anyway, I guess I'll toss my $0.02 into the pool.
Do all of you goofballs take everything so seriously???
Be real here, damned near everyone on this site has a story to tell...and the unfortunate reality of the internet is that things get 'summarized' (for lack of better definition) so that they can be quickly typed & are easy to read.
The Law Enforcement Officers here know that there are 'bad apples' in their midst...The 'non-cops' here know that there are some folks that deserve a beating.
It's really that simple.
I know LEO's have to deal with some of the most ridiculous crap you can imagine. But they also have some of the best stories to tell.
To counter that, everyone has a story about "this a$$hole cop that pulled me over'. (those stories are not usually as good).
The way it all breaks down, in the simple terms, is:
If you are not doinganything you shouldn't be doing, then chances are you are never going to be in a situation where you have to worry about a 'loose cannon' cop. If you do get yourself into a spot where you are being asked questions by an LEO...just don't be a dick...
