Cold Grind
Hate to do it to you guys but I've got a new noise/vibration to describe and I was wondering if this rings any bells for anyone. 2012 Street Glide, 13000 miles. The last month or so, when I downshift from 4th to 3rd and occasionally from 3rd to 2nd, as I let out the clutch I get a mild to moderate short duration (1-2 second) grind that I feel with my feet and can hear. Only does it at the first or second stoplight I encounter. Once the bike is totally warmed up it never does it again and never does it twice on the same ride. The bike goes into gear fine and shifting is great. The clutch seems super smooth at all other times and is adjusted per the manual. I'd appreciate some input. My warranty runs out in Aug. Dealer said to lube my cable…don't think thats the problem. And judging from my experience getting them to replace my faulty regulator, I will have to identify and spoon feed the problem to them to get any help. Thanks in advance….
look the pipes over any where their near the frame or floorboards, when u let out the clutch the motor moves and I'm guessing the pipes are touching, need at least 3\16 clearance could even be a heat shield clamp.
I don't see anyplace that appears to be touching or vibrating with engine movement. No unusual wear or rub marks. Because it seems to be a common problem on these bikes, I was wondering if anyone with compensator problems had this symptom?
