I had my inner fairing painted. I have it mounted and everything looks ok. I'm having an issue getting my radio back in. I've had to shave off the excess paint on the lip of the opening but still can't get it to slide all the way into the opening. Any suggestions? Also, the lower fairing is actually sitting on the ignition mount to the point that it has a slight upward bow in it right in the middle. Do I need to realign the inner fairing up just slightly?
I just did mine yesterday. Trick for me was pull the black fairing support bracket up and forward about 45 degs, and have the inner fairing generally in position but leaning towards the rear. Then as they were pushed into each other and down, the radio slid into place with no issues. I left the radio installed in the fairing bracket...not sure if you did the same or took yours out.
At any rate, I didn't have to do anything special to get 'em back together. And I didn't have any issues with the inner or fairing cap hitting anything it shouldn't. Not sure if any of that helps...probably not.
