Default Pulling Rear FLHX Wheel and Tire

Can anyone tell me if the lower shock bolts can be pulled and the swing arm lowered enough on a Street Glide so that the rear axle can be removed without having to remove mufflers? Thanks

That is how we do it. Smart guy. Most people remove the mufflers.

That's how I do it. Easier to line up when going back together as well with the shocks loose.

I just loosen my slip ons rear 1/2 inch (7/16 whatever) bolts on the slip on where it mounts to the hanger rail. No removal of slip on required. Bang out axle. Or better said...tap out.

Jack her up roll wheel forward, slip off the belt, and all comes out fine.

And if you have 2 into 1's reverse the axle so you have the nut on the side of the muffler. 1000x's easier

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the swing arm would drop low enough. That will make it much easier all the way around!

When you say lowered enough, do you mean that the tire goes up in the fender?

We use a scissor jack under the frame to raise and lower the swing arm. We raise the frame so the swing arm drops below the axle to pull it out. On second thought I have this backwards. We lower it so that the axle is above the pipes.
