Wrap Soft-Straps around the Fork Lowers, above the fender mounts, pull forward and out....

On the Rear, you can wrap soft-straps around the frame, above the pass footboards, pull rear and away......

Anyone that tells you to tie off to the handlebars is incorrect....

It is thin-walled tube steel... how strong do you think it is??????
I hate to disagree with anyone, yeah right, but I use to tie my ultra by the handlbars all the time and I have never had a bit of trouble...See the picture below to see what I mean...

As for those soft-straps, you can get them at any good cycle shop. I also picked a few pairs up at different swap meets...

Jack,

I think you and I have the same motorhome. I have an '03 40' Phaeton. I have a couple of questions for you. What lift to you have to secure the bike on the back, and does the bike get trashed from the road and diesel soot? We've been pulling a car for years, and it gets pretty dirty after 100s of miles on the road.

got a motorhome and has to haul the bike on the back bumper. I think I'd have a trailer with a gravel guard at least.

It may be that he also pulls a car or SUV along with taking the bike. We've been motorhoming for 13 years and need to take a car because of the family, but it would be really nice to have the bike along as well.

Just returned to NY from Daytona, I tied my ultra just above the crash bar around the frame using soft ties and also on my down tubes just above the fender with another set of soft ties. So I had two sets of straps on the front and I put another set to the rider foot brackets pulling alittle back.Three sets in all. No problems at all! Used a Condor wheel chock, its great. Well worth the money.

I tie my EGC with soft tyes from the handle bars and have done so for years...only when the bike is broken...with this being said it works for me...the rear ties need to be pull FORWARDS..incase one of the front ones gives in...it will keep the bike under pressure in the front chock....check every time you stop for gas or a break......this method has worked for us forever in our life time...................BC

Do you have a link for that Condor wheel chock?

No I do not, just google condor wheel chocks. I have two of them. Nice, you can load the bike by your self. Drive it in and get off and tie down and your done. Condor tells you at their demo that one set of straps to the rear foot brackets will hold it pulling forward.I like it tied down good. I also use the condor in my garage when ever I want to work on or clean my bike with it standing streight up. Has a quick attachment for the trailer. Good luck!
