There's something fundamentally wrong about cashing in on this kind of thing imo. You should get it put back the way it was or not take the money out if the other guys pocket for the damage

I bet if it were you it would be different!!!!! Wait till it happens to you and let us know what you did. Must work for an insurance company.

Tractor trailer ran me off the road at 60mph, 2nd time 17yr bimbo blapping on a cell phone pulled out in front of me from a side street. Fkn sucks!!!!!!!!! I hurt everyday from them, I ain't lettn anybody keep or take what I have earned!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Sammy! New guy dumbass post of the week. Have you put on your asbestos underwear yet? Get ready!
Every thing wrong is simple bolt on stuff, pull it in garage pull stuff off to the point of how it would be without things you may not replace. Then figure your must replace items and order those. At that point you will see if bike is how you want it. If it is, all the money left will tell you how much you can buy from the wish list of new stuff. I sure as hell would spend every penny of that insurance money and not feel guilty.
I always try to look at both sides of a situation but I have to agree with you big time on this........The guys bike was parked properly, the guy backed into it, his fault, his insurance should pay for whatever damage that occurred.
Thank god the other guy had decent insurance and insurance at all. Around my neck of the woods, lots of illegals driving around with no licenses, registration or insurance and most try to flee the scene...
If it was me I would get everything fixed. Now if I didn't want things like saddlebag guards, pegs, and pieces of chrome stuff like that,I would pocket the extra $ for the upgrades you mentioned wanting done (tuner, exhaust).
Or just go get a brand new 2014 lol.
I'm too ****. I'd have to get everything he scratched replaced.
If I scratched it it's one thing....if he scratched it I'd have to fix it.

What a self righteous a$$hat. What he does with the money, is entirely up to him.
Now, if something like this happened again and he claimed the parts that weren't repaired the first time, then ...
