Installed a set of JES deflectors on my 2009 Ultra to help with wind and cold. They work great except I smell a lot of exhaust fumes now while riding. Took them off and fumes go away. Anyone else had this experience?
I have them and I do seem to smell more of the motor and motor heat when I have them on. Since they reduce the airflow flowing down the bike, I think you tend to get more of those smells rising up to the rider. I've never encountered any problems with them. They work very well.

Yes, exactly as you describe. Must be the '09 curse?
Thought I had a leaky head but think I pulled them off and it went away. Put them back on and enjoy them immensely, in spite of the occasional fume. Had for almost 2 years now.
Although sometimes get a bit of a lazy wiggle when following trucks on the hwy, with or without a passenger. Feels a bit like its top heavy or I'm being slapped around up top.
I rode last year to Sturgis and back with mine mounted (1500 miles) and had the same smell/ fume issue. I thought I had an exhaust leak at the head, however I kept looking and found that my breather tubes had deteriorated behind the backing plate thus the crankcase fumes were the culprit.
The change in airflow with the deflectors mounted allows the fumes to be noticed, I never smelled it without the deflectors. Can't explain why my breather tubes turned into goo, it's a 2011 and at the time only had 13k on it.
