OldHippie-Agreed that I choose to live here. Have to wait a few more years before the big move south. Then its 12 months a year of riding! Until then, I have to spend my winters on this forum. Could be worse-I could be watching The Devils Ride!
IronHead-I see you are in Maryland. I'm a little further north (NY) than you and we still have ALOT of snow on the ground. I'm with you-Need two good rain cycles to clean the salt off the road. Even though the roads are down to asphalt, they still salt at night when the runoff freezes. Not getting all that crap stuck on the underside and in the crevices of my bike.
This is exactly the reason I wait. Even after a good rain last week, there is still snow out there, and it is melting and leaving salt soaking puddles in the road. I am not getting salt on my bike. Too many cracks and crevices too attempt to get all the corrosive stuff out of there. I wish I could ride year round, but that is just not possible in MD.
We had a beautiful ride Saturday in north Florida, the first time I've been out in a while due to the cold weather and rain. It really felt good. Spring is a comin'
