Wife and I have J&M, but I really don't think they are any better than factory, or other aftermarket sets.

We each ride our own, and the CB is used all the time. Also, many of the people we ride with have CB's, so headsets are great. We have 3/4 helmets and the headsets go in the well with just a little removal of foam. I also have a Boom headset for half helmets that I use when I don't want to wear a helmet.

If you're going to use the CB and need to stick with a wired headset, Edsets is the best out there. If your helmet doesn't have speaker pockets, you can use a forstner bit to create your own. Just be sure to center the speakers over your ears. It's amazing the difference in sound that 1/4" can make.

If you don't need the CB, get a Sena. Bluetooth is far more flexible, and the only things you won't be able to do with it are listen to terrestrial radio and use the CB.

I like being able to talk to my passenger, it's nice to have a passenger that's not a chatter box and my girl never initiates the conversation. We both wear full face helmets and the stock HD headsets work well. I only use the headset speakers for our communication because I find it isolating listening to music through the headset.

I use the standard HD headset and microphone. This set up works well in a full face helmet for my wife and I.

When I first got the Ultra wife was asking about the helmet to helmet communication. Father in law leaned over to me and said "dont do it! You think its bad now? You'll never get her outta you head with those things!"

The other side
I don't want any conversation from the other side while riding. My rule is if I'm moving my helmet side to side stop doing what ever your doing. Talking is when the ride ends.

The J&M looks like it is an upgraded version of the Scala Rider system with upgraded speakers. I have the Scala system and the sound is OK. I believe that the ear cushions around the speakers would improve things. The plugs on each speaker both appeal to me and are a concern. Any plug is an opportunity for a poor/intermittent connection. The glowing reports about the J&M suggests that isn't a problem. Rode for a year or 2 without any com in the helmets. When the wife wanted a break, it was hard to know if she was thirsty, needed a johnny stop or just needed to stand up for a few minutes. The intent influenced what to look for when stopping so the comm has been a major improvement. She is quiet unless there is something important so for us the comm is not intrusive.
