I have a Stage 1 SG with stock headpipe and RC slip-ons. I want to get a set of true duals for it but am hesitant. I want the heat reduction as well as the sound improvement but am concerned with loudness. I want a deep throaty sound, not just noisy. I didn't upgrade my stereo to drown it out with exhaust! I love the true dual sound but how much louder will it be a highway speeds or does it mellow out. Sorry for such a vague question but I'm sure someone has experienced this already?
Thanks in advance.
I recently switched to S&S Power Tune duals. Improved torque, but coupled with my Rineharts they are pretty loud. Luckily, I upgraded my stereo first lol.
Depending on the pipes...TD's are much louder than stock. My Bub-7's tend to wear on the ears after a few hours...best to go to bike event, look/listen/ask riders about their exhaust. You'll find bikers like to talk and brag about their rides so I've never had any problems finding out info. on certain things...bike related.
I have MGS true duals on my '14 SGS and I love them. I opted for the loud baffles and they are loud. I have Rinehart true duals on my '05 Road King and they're pretty loud as well. If you go to MGS Custom Bikes web site, you can listen to sound clips.
I am impressed with the performance on both.

I'm running V&H dresser duals with RC components mufflers & was very surprised as to how quiet it is! Has a great sound but very livable at cruising speeds!
I have the V&H dresser duals with monster rounds. Not real loud but the sound is behind me. I just went to my local dealership when there were alot of bikes there and just talked to everybody and listened to their setups. Asked what they liked and didnt like about theirs. I felt informed enough to make a decision. I am happy with my decision. I plan on make long trips and didnt want any ear ringing so that was my main question to everybody.
I have the Dragos true duals with the Dragos mufflers. They are loud when get down in it , as far cruising they mellow out I don't have a problem hearing my stock radio and no complaints from the wife either.

This is what I was hoping to hear. LOL I do love the sound of the RC's but thought duals might give it more meat. I do not want to be loud for the sake of being loud. My last bike (Dyna) had Big Radius with Thunder City monster baffles and I do NOT want that again...
Thanks to all replies...
