Ok all, after some research on the HD 57474-11 mini apes. Am I to assume the only reason that you can't use them on a FLHTK is that the heated grips can't be used along with internal wiring....
So If I don't do internal wiring or do away with the heated grips they should work.
Any of you out there have any thought on this or done it.
I was looking at these myself. The website says they are designed for internal wiring so I don't know why you wouldn't be able to use them. I was wondering if everything was long enough - clutch, brake and wiring. They don't look to be any taller than the 10" Yaffee's and people put those on with stock components including heated grips
You CAN do internal wiring with the HD Bat Wing Mini Apes, but I would recommend using the TBW Sensor (which eliminates the dreaded green plug) to extend the throttle wiring.
The Bat Wing Mini Ape is a 12-incher. If you really like them, then you ought to give consideration to the Yaffe 12" Classic Bagger Apes, which are shaped very similarly, are slightly higher and are much less money!
When I was considering apes for my FLHX, I found a used 2012 in the dealer showroom with the HD Mini Apes installed. I LOVED everything about the bars but the height (a tad too low for me).
Did some research and found the Yaffe Classic Bagger Apes. Same look, slightly taller, neutral wrist angle, comfortable width AND less $$$.
Long story short, I found a local indy, whom I liked, and he did the installation for me. I LOVE my Yaffe Classic Bagger Apes!
Whatever you decide, do the HD Polyurethane Riser Bushings at the same time.

Great info ! Thank you ! I took a road trip last week and stopped at several dealers to check out used bikes with apes. One dealer had a ultra with the 12" HD mini-apes and they fit great ! I ride a flhx, so will check the Yaffe bars, now if I can find someone close to me in the UP to do an install since the dealers are pretty pricey and I'm not willing to take on the challenge just yet !
I had these on my street glide for awhile they are great bars IMO , I swapped them out for some 14s , I agree with the above post get the cvo tbw sensor or cut the green plug out and solder either way works fine. You don't extend the control wiring it fits perfectly under the radio. I did however extend my cables to +6.
I haven't posted the bars in the classified yet plan on doing so this weekend when I am off work, but if interested I have the BW bars in Black with Magnum Shielding black pearl clutch cable and upper brake cable. Send me a pm.

Hey, KUB, the Yaffe Classic Bagger Apes are definitely worth a look. I LOVE mine - paid $94.99/shipped from Dennis Kirk!
Regarding installation, dealers ARE pricey. I opened the phonebook and called a few nearby independents, then traveled to their shops to talk them and see their operation, up close ad personal. I am very pleased with the guy I chose; he did a great job installing the apes and cables. In fact, from this point forward, he's the only guy who is going to service my FLHX.
Good luck in getting it done, KUB. If you need any more assistance, feel free to give me a shout.
I have the HD 12" mini apes on my bike and love them. I have had a few chosen friends hop on my bike and they thought it was the best mod to do. One guy did a highway lane change and was surprised how little effort for a quick change. If I did it again I would look at the Yaffe's. I did all Harley on the bars, cables and wiring because bike was less than 60 days old and want them to be covered if needed for warranty work. Glad I did because dealer didn't put the shrink wrap protection sleeve in the right place and clear plastic around stainless clutch cable started coming apart. Another dealer was able to get me a new cable wty and let me install it.

Thanks ! I may do that, Were I live in the UP I've checked Craig's list and ph. book and the closest I'm finding indies is in wi and mn, so i'll just have to get out and check with some of the riders in the area !

Great idea! Word of mouth is the best endorsement. I'm sure you'll find someone who you can trust with your bike.
I'm like you - I want the job done right, but I don't have the experience or the time to do it myself. When it comes to swapping handlebars and wiring controls, if the job isn't done correctly, then bad things can happen. I can't take that chance, so I defer to the guys who know what they're doing.
