so I was at Harley dealer yest and looking and and the 2014 ultra caught my eye . as they always do .
so heres my delima . I have a 09 street glide and my gf rides a 07 road king classic , road king only got around a thousand miles on it last year and maybe a couple the year before that. and it costs me about $1200 a year to insure it, so its a lot of money for what its actually ridden, all our long trips she rides with me on the street glide , but on all day and multi day rides she finds it tough on her body being on back of bike , so I was thinking of getting rid of both bikes and buying a ultra 2014 and they say that they have more leg room than prev models, does any know what they mean by that ?
also what are you guys thoughts on the ultra, it is now liquid cooled so it must run a lot cooler and at a constant temp now . any other thoughts on these or any known problems on them
thanks inn advance marcus

My wife loves the back seat on our 2014 Ultra Limited. The water cooled heads do really work, I don't have any pinging or heat issues. The motors also run better in hot weather. With the new detachable tour pak kit you can easily ride with or without the tour pak depending on your needs.

Search here and in the Rushmore section, LOTS of info about the goods and the bads about these bikes. Even with all the issues, you'll be hard pressed to find an owner who has anything bad to say or who honestly regrets their decision to purchase one.
are the tour paks factory detachable or do u have to buy a kit to make them that way, on my road king I do have a tour pak for it, the leather one, but it has only been on the bike a few times.
Tour Paks are bolted/screwed in solid. If you want detachable, you buy the kit from H-D. You may want to consider the Ultra. No water cooling. Not all the luxury of a Limited, but still well equipped and a might fine looking dresser.
My brother has a 2014 CVO Limited and I have a 2014 SG and even with the larger 110" motor the water cooled heads keep his bike cooler than mine or at least the heat I feel riding it. We switched bike for a while one day and I was surprised that I could feel the difference when on the bike or my mind was playing a good trick on me. If I was buying a new full bagger and could afford the limited I would go with the "wet head" for the cooling benefits. I have read a couple of bike mags that said the extra cooling allowed the bike to make more consistent power even when hot. So not near as much timing pulled by the ECM when the temps got hot outside equals more power and better running.
The speaker pods on the tour pac are 1" per side wider than the previous years. That's why there's more room. At least that's what I was told at my dealer.

I have had two Hondas that were water cooled and both bikes deff ran cooler in hot weather, maybe this will help the Harley engines get more milage out of them before rebuilds are required like all the water cooled engines do because the temps wont be so erratic in terms of extreme hot temps which I have always felt effects durability .
