Have a Bagger and would like to go ape, but not sure on the max size before the cable/Brake hose replacement. My idea would be 10-14", any help would be great!
I am dropping off my 2012 SG tomorrow morning along with the 10"
KST Kustom Mayhem Bagger Bars.
Dealer told me sometimes they have to change them and sometimes they don't.
I also read the same on this forum, some have changed them some have not.
That's on the 10" Bars, I would imagine anything higher has to be changed.
I have 14 Kst mayhem. got everything from eastern performance.. I could have easily went 16.. so far they r some BAMF's. no regrets.. do u plan on doing them yourself or paying.. if u do it yourself I'd be more than willing to let u know what Ya need and give ya some hints

You may be sacrificing comfort just to keep stock cables and hoses.... Doesn't really make sense to me.....
Figure where the comfort is with your hands and arms,
measure a couple different times, then order appropriate sized bars.
Why run the risk of installing 12" bars just so you can save money
on not having to buy new cables and hoses, with the possibility of
not being as comfortable as you'd hoped for and 14" or 16" being
what you actually wanted

^^THIS^^
I went with some WW 10" mini apes, and now I think that the above is a very true statement!
I didn't want to pay for new cables, and kind of shot myself in the foot. My bars are nice, but just not right...
Also, I wish I had put an extra 6" in the wiring when I extended them.
It wouldn't have been ANY extra work at all, and would have saved me from doing it all over again if I just had thought ahead!! ARGHHHHHHH
Now, to go higher, I'm basically starting from scratch again.
I just thought I'd never do the job again, man was I wrong!!
I went with 16" la chopper touring bars. Very wide grip. I love them. If the ape fairy went into my garage tonight and made them 18", I wouldn't complain.
I'm patiently waiting on the big brown truck to bring my WO577's (12.5") bars.... I also ordered +6 clutch cable and brake lines from Magnum. This will be my first bar change on a Harley, wish me luck.
