Wind deflectors

Wind deflectors
I've got an 02 FLHTC and am looking for some input on what works better: The wind deflectors that mount on the upper fork tubes or soft lowers. Seems to be about a 50/50 mix around here. Thoughts?

They deflect wind in different areas, there is no real comparison.
Having run both and since you are leaving soon I would do soft lowers. The fork deflectors only take a few minutes to install so you could do both of them.

+ 1--Do them both, but you may want to add fork mounted wind deflectors too.
Also you may want to take off the soft lowers when the summer gets here. I know that
a lot of riders don't like the looks of the fork mounted wind deflectors, but they do help.

I haven't heard enough good about the triple tree deflector to give it a try. I'm trying to get out of here tomorrow, but the way things are going it will probably be Monday morning.

The Wings that bolt onto the legs do work, just ugly. The soft lowers work as well but catch alot of air & will drop your MPG by 1 or 2. The triple tree "ash tray" does a little bit but it is the least expensive of them all.
If I was doing 600 miles, Id do all three + the tallest windshield you can stand to ride behind.

Wow, really ?? I can sure tell a difference in mine. I do remove in the summer for more air flow on me. It is the difference between being able to smoke a cigar below 55 mph and not. Also when riding in rain it minimized the amount of wetness behind the fairing..
The only negative is all the sound that bounces back from my already noisy top end ! First time I had installed it I was concerned something went !
My riding buddy did not have his on a Batwing bike and his beard would go up into his face when riding, I saw he had the deflector in a box of parts we were looking at and said to put it on and he would not be brushing and tucking his beard in his jacket. Next ride no flying beard. He took it off because it was ugly.
Function over form !
