Default Changing baffles

After purchasing a D&D fatcat with the quiet baffle, I'm just not happy with how quiet my bike is. I did do my home work, and the guy that sold me the pipe even told me that the quiet baffle pipe is loud. The pipe is still pretty new, so how hard would it be to change out the baffle? Short of selling my pipe for some true duals, I'm not quite sure what to do.

I Changed Mine From The Quiet To The Perf Baffle. Sounds Much Better Now. You'll Need A Can Of WD40 And A Soft Piece Of WoOd. Remove The Muffler And Spray The WD40 Into The Baffle Area From Both Ends While Repeatedly Droping The Output End On The Muffler On To The Soft Wood Board. Don't Worry, It Won't Damage The Chrome And After A While The Baffle Will Slide Out. Good Luck!

Not D&D but i got a set of pipes with baffles, they were loud, i took the baffles out and wrapped them with packing matterial about 3/4 of the full lenght. I will re pack them 100% now to see if i like it better... looking for the mellow touring sound with some bite when i get on the throttle...

Don't use WD-40, use PB Blaster. Spray into both ends of the muffler and let it sit for a few minutes. Wrap a block of wood (I use a 10" long piece of 2x4 because it's what I have) with an old towel or washcloth, then beat the end of the muffler on it. The baffle should slide right out. Once you get it to the end of the muffler, use a long socket extension at the inlet to drive it the rest of the way out.

I got my Lowcat baffle out this way in less than 2 minutes, and the baffle's been in there for 6 years. I used WD-40 on my 8-month-old Fatcat a few years ago and it took a couple of hours, some long wood wedges, and a fire to get the damn thing out.

What kind of material do you use to wrap baffles?

I used Bristol Core. They custom-made me a wrap for my Fatcat, and should still have the dimensions.

Jesus '05....where the hell were you when I did mine a year ago? I used WD40 and it took at least two hours...there was no "sliding right out" about it! At any rate, the WD40 worked but if PB Blaster works as you say I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to change baffles

PB Blaster works way better than WD40 but if they are rusted in they are a bitch to get out....I bought my baffle wrap material at a Honda dealership... i think $12...wrapped with wires that they sold be also... it was easy to do...i am gonna wrap the whole thing next...if that doesn't work i am putting my stock pipes back on.
