The parts guy is right. Get the bushings while you doing the bars...
Just DON'T pay $50. They can be had for 1/2 that at pretty much any independent shop. Even less if you buy on-line.
Running poly bushings with my Wild1's beach bars. I didn't upgrade when I did the build...I waited. That was a mistake.
Just did a swap to 16" apes on a buddy's bike...pretty much told him I wouldn't do the work if he didn't do the poly bushings at the same time...
mine vibrate like a **** wen I stop.. used polys from Eastern performance I have already planned to get back in there and really tighten everything.. maybe I didn't torque them down enough
I didn't replace the bushings when I put 16" apes on my RG. I did, however, change them 2000 miles away from home, in a hotel parking lot.
Riding through Denver, I hit a bump, while I was shifting my weight. The bars damn near smacked my knees, and then went floppy, with about 6" of fore/aft movement. I also had to replace the ignition switch, as the bar hit it and cracked it.
I swapped my old rubber ones out this past week and sprung for the HD poly ones. I have not had a chance yet to ride since I have no forks or front end on my bike....but I am really excited to see if the small amount of "play" is taken out of my bars from the ones I took out, I am guessing they were stock, but they were worn. I did have a bit of vibration at idle but it went away when I rode, I hope the poly ones are better. C'Mon Spring!!!!
