Default Stage 1 intake question

Has anyone does it themselves? Looking at the instructions it says to remove the tank????

I have the new Vance and Hines Fuel Pack 3 auto tuner coming and i'm trying to decide which Stage 1 kit to buy. I'm leaning towards the one that uses the stock cover as I ride in the rain and don't want to worry about putting a cover on.

I have the old assembly almost all the way removed now, just one more bolt in the bracket that holds the backing plate. I had to leave for work so that's all I got done.

Grabbing the new one when I get out of work or tomorrow just looking for some advice from those who have done it on a 2014.

No need to remove the tank. Most people use the Screaming Eagle or Arlen Ness kits. Fuel Moto also makes a good stage-1 intake kit. They all work fine.

Concur... Take your time and it'll be a walk in the park.

Are you planning on doing the full stage 1: Tuner, exhaust, and A/C?

The A/C is very simple.

The exhaust is kind of a PITA if you don't have a lift / helper. <--- take your time here. You will get frustrated.

The tuner is plug and play for the FP3.

Very easliy do able on your own.

Tools needed:

6 pack of beer
Punching bag
bandaids / ducktape
oh and a few wrenches

Already did the slip on's and I'm keeping the headers for now. Just the air cleaner and the FP3.

Looking at the HD website instructions for replacing the air cleaner it says to remove and discard the induction module bracket which I started doing and it's a PITA but the pics with the new air cleaner installed show that bracket still there. That's what I'm hung up on I guess.

The new A/C should have come with its own back plate and breather bolts. What A/C did you buy? Do you have the Factory housing off yet?

I did the fuel moto stage1 air cleaner last weekend. No need to remove the tank, took about 20 minutes to do.

I buying the new in tomorrow. I have the old one off with the exception of the bracket. The cover, filter and backing plate are all off. The bracket has some plastic piece connected to it. The bolts to remove it are behind and are a pain in the *** to take out with an Allen wrench. I have one of the bolts out and the other one almost all the way out. I just don't want to remove it for no reason.

The bracket is 'B' in the first picture. And the instructions say to discard it.

It's still attached in this picture.
