I've been using Amsoil for years and just switched to Mobil 1 because of price. For some reason Amsoil's oil price has gone through the roof. I had no problems with that brand and have put thousands of miles on my Ultra using it but I'm a cheap SOB and when they raised their price I switched. [:@]
I use and am well pleased with Mobil I Full Synthetic 20-50W V-Twin for my crankcase and primary and Mobil I Full Synthetic Gear Oil 75-140W for my transmission.
Syn 3 is a class 3 syn oil that costs more than the top grade class 1 syn oils, top rated oils are Amsoil 20-50 mv, Mobil1 20-50 for vtwins, also companies like royal purple, redline and others make good cycle oils. Transmission and primary comes with Formula+ which is a straight 50 weight with additives. Great results with any good grade cycle 20-50s in the motor and in the primary, then a good 75/90 syn gear lube in the tranny. Some have went with 75/140 but to me its a little thick. I have used amsoil and mobil1 products with great results also royal purple did good too. In tests on 07 trannys of the major brands by some other forum members found that mobil 1 and amsoil or redline heavy all did good in the tranny.
Formula+ which is a straight 50 weight with additives.
I thought that I had read this somewhere.......interesting.
I have beenplaying with the idea of using the 75-90W gear oil in my primary since the"weight" of 75-90 is equivalent to 20-50W ..............in an attempt to lessen the "chatter' of the compensator.......whatcha think gunrunner?
I almost always use
Valvoline in my 01EG and 06Eg engine. depending on weather and how I am going to be riding
and how far 10/40 15/40 or 20/50 in petroleum, semi syn and full syn
Primary I use v-twin synthetic or a straight 50 wt synthetic for big truck trannies.
Tranny I use valvoline synthetic.
If valvoline is NOT available I get the Castrol oil.
But mobil 1 and such are good too.
But I too am a cheap bastard. So watch my price.
