Default Wheel clearance question

Just put a 21 inch wheel on my on my 12 street glide. I'm running a 120 avon tire. I put wheel on it was rubbing so I oblonged the 2 back holes as much as I could. I have little over 1/8 inch clearance now. Is that enough clearance say at highway speeds I'm not sure how much tire would expand? If not what does everybody recommend?

That's what everyone does, yet 1/8 seems pretty thin. By the time you smell the paint burning, it'll be way too late....

I have a 120/70-21 on the front of my 2013. Hasn't/haven't rubbed at all....... I think the 2013 is one of those "lucky" years. Or, I'm just lucky!

I would want a 1/4" min. 3/8" would be better. Tape a 3/8" nut on the tire (flat) and wallow til it clears...

Just did the same thing at Daytona bike week. The oblong end the hole to provide room. If the tires grows any it will rub. I think they moved it about 3/16.

I took washers and measured them out and taped to tire. If I drill anymore it will be all the way through any other ideas?

Yes, but the ones I've seen require the old mounts to be removed and new ones riveted on. Of course then painting is required. I'm surprised that you can't get any more clearance by opening up the hole...

I opened holes far as I can without goin all the way through. Would doing the front holes make any diff as it rubs towards the back center?
