Me too! I keep adding to the street glide and I wonder if I would have been better off removing from limited.

The best advice I got when deciding between a Road King and an Electra Glide was if you are thinking of the Glide for touring, get it. I opted for the Electra Glide Classic with the idea I was going to add a quick release for the tour pak and a single seat on it's first service. It didn't take long for me to realize I liked the tour pak too much and cancelled the order for the release and single seat. The dealer even told me most quick releases he adds for customers don't get used, they just leave the tour pak on.

I had a Classic with quick detach tour pac, lost the bag rails, front and rear bumpers, and changed the rear turn signal bracket. Sitting on the street, you could not tell it from a SG. When it was time for a 2,000 mile trip, the tour pack went on and the bike was a Classic.

The wife had a SG and found that on long trips she needed a tour pack. The chopped tour pac alone was twice what I had in the Classic to make it look like a SG.

It is much cheaper to take things off than it is to put them on after you find you need them.

If you do a little stripping, which can be put back on, you can have both bikes in one, because a stripped Ultra has the exact same look as the SG.

Funny how some Street Glide owners add a tour pack and lowers to make their bike look/function like an Ultra. Likewise, some Ultra owners remove parts for the Street Glide look.

Here's my suggestion.. If you ride two-up often, go for the Ultra. It has better suspension, better passenger ergos and a touring saddle. If you primarily ride solo, go for a Street Glide, then add whatever detachables you might want.

Ultra without question. I think best bang for buck in the lineup and can make it your own.

My 2 cents. My SG is my only transport here in Singapore other than my shoes. Initially I was thinking that the SG would be a bit cumbersome for daily riding. It isn't.
In hindsight, an Ultra with detachable tourpak would have been a better bet. Not an issue, since here there weren't any 2nd hand 103 Ultras for sale at the time.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice.

After test driving both bikes I decided on the Ultra Classic. I pick up from the dealer today.

The Street Glide is a lot of fun and that would've been the bike for me if I was 20 years younger. Should've mentioned I'll be 59 in June but I didn't want that to color your opinions.

My first Harley. Like I told the salesman, if I had ridden an HD 4 years ago when I started riding again this wouldn't be my 4th bike. I think I found a keeper.

Thanks again for the help.
