i have an 06 sg with stage 1 and se race slip[ ons. old style slanted. when the dealer did the download, the bike ran well except for idling at 1300 to 1500 for a while upon start up even if i had been riding it. i was getting around 43 mpg after download, 47 to 48 before. then when winter came my mileage went to high 30's. i blamed this on winter. my last trip to the dealer they took the bike and checked the dowload, and said it had a 1550 race with 8 deg injectors, i have 25 degree injectors. i also do not have a big bore so they dowloaded 1450 stage 1 with 25 degree injectors and told me to run 2 or 3 tanks through it. well i did checked plugs today, porcelain is snow white, no ttint at all. i need more fuel, i wonder if the 1550 non race with the correct injectors would be ok or should i go back to 1550 race. the bike ran great on this setup other than mpg. with the current set up i am getting muffled popping on decell.

I had the SERT, SE Mufflers installed when my 8* injectors were replaced with the 25's and they set it up to run on the rich side. The 25s don't put out as much fuel as the 8s I've been told. No popping and runs strong for an 88.

Worst part about a simple download is that it can't be tuned to your particular engine - basically a crap shoot. I assume you didn't have a Power Commander or SERT installed. Is that correct?

you need a new dealer.
find an indy shop with a dyno to PCIII the bike, and if you have any problems pull the PCIII out and the dealer can't say schit. Also this would be a good time to start looking for a shop to do whateve work you need done that you can't do yourself, because clearly your dealer sux.

from the techs tips Ive seen... white plugs arent a prob,,, its, if there is little sooty particles and crap on them, is a sign of danger,,,, whish I could remember where I read this?

My take on this.
The spec flow rate of 8 deg is 3.89gr/sec , 25 is 4.91 gr/sec. If you just swap the injectors and keep the same download, it shoud run richer, as the injector work on voltage pulse so for the saem time the are kept open , with the 25 deg it should run richer if you okepp the 8 deg download. Makes sence?

I have the same combo on my bike....plus the se/ac....I have popping on decel too...i would love to get it running a little richer too....but the dealer says the plugs look fine..
ps....the prices on the 08s are falling like the leaves up here in canada.
