Hello all, looking for suggestion for a riding helmet, I live in Illinois and we don't require a helmet to be worn while riding. Looking some suggestion, most helmets that I have tried suck! They are either too big, not light, look fugly. I've come across novelty style helmets which are nice but they don't offer any protection since they are after all novelty type helmets.
Suggestions, guidance, recommendations, web links would be truly appreciated!

Be safe all and thank you!
Here in CT we don't require them either. So get one that protects your noggin or don't wear one. Good ones generally don't look good. You be safe as well!
Here in Canada it is mandatory to wear a helmet. I found the Harley Hybrid to be the lightest and most comfortable to me. I'm sure there are many that look better, but I haven't found a DOT approved lid that is lighter yet.
Check out the Bell Pit Boss, It sits low on your head so you don't have that mushroom head look. Very comfortable (has an adjuster like a hard hat). I got one a few months ago and like it.
Revzilla is really good about pricing and shipping and customer satisfaction. They are about the only folks I mail order to anymore. No restocking fees if you happen to get the wrong size.
I like Shoei. I have a Neotec and a St Croix but I don't think they make that one any more.
I have the Akoury AK-88. It is light, small, and has a ratchet locking strap. No mushroom head either. Bought one for me and the Mrs. Can also fit 2 in one saddlebag with other crap. And it is DOT compliant.
I've been riding since 1961 and was for most of that time against wearing a helmet. I still believe in riders rights and freedom of choice. Having said that I now wear my helmet at all times and it is a Police style half helmet. I had a good friend hit by a left hander and he was wearing a beanie helmet. The helmet flew off his head with the strap breaking and he ended up in a coma. When he awoke he had no knowledge of who he was and did not know any of his friends including his wife of 7 years. I decided to wear mine after that. The newer Carbon Fiber helmets appear to meet some of your wants. Later Fairshake
