Thanks for the heads up installing new bars on my wife's UC next week or so. I think drilling and pining it will be the best peace of mind but she is not that strong to muscle the beast anyway if it starts to go down she is going to just let it go.

all the bar manufacturers recommend the ONE PIECE clamp.

Absolutely need the one piece clamp. Also not only is the proper torque needed but the procedure is paramount in clamping the bars. All spelled out in the service manual. If using a good quality bar and procedure, they should never give you problems.

Do the SG's come with one or two piece from the factory? I haven't taken mine apart yet.

Yep, use the correct sequence and torque to specs and the bars will not move.....

Yeah that's pretty scary. I just read on Wild One's site that any 08 and later touring bikes have the correct clamp....anyone find this to be true or not?
