Last fall I had a Land Rover try'n to ride up my pipes, real rude! I attempted to nicely signal for him to not follow so close, I changed lanes and then he was up another cagers a#$, turnes out we took the same exit then the light bulb came on and I have seen this green Rover driving chump before doing this, and to me before also.......... so I dropped 2 or three cars back, up the hill we went. When he got out of his Rover at his HOUSE I pulled in the street in front of his house. I just looked at him and slowly rode off. I've seen him on the road maybe twice since then and he does not getclose anymore! Ain't a wreck story, didn't chase him down, 800 pound bike + 2 ton cager = me exercising a few extra brain cells even though I was sorta "in a mood cuz of this jerk". High road always wins.
When I was in my mid 20's I was tooling down the road on my Sportster with my best looking date of the week and this car driven by a guy with 2 girls in the front seat cut us off. No blinker, no warning just cut us off. While I was scrambling to stay upright I could see their faces and they thought it was funny as hell. Know what I did, huh huh huh? I followed him right to the restaurant/bar he pulled into. Walked over and snatched him by his throat and slammed him against the wall. I am not a violent person, I really am not. I am a happy go lucky Polish person. However I was so pissed off that evening that I asked him how would he like me to almost kill him right now and laugh about it? All of a sudden it wasn't funny. The 2 ditzy chicks were were bawling and crying for me to stop. He ws trying to talk but couldn't quite get the words out so I let his throatgo. He apologized profusely. We just left. That was also the nite we didn't have the money for the toll so she flashed the toll booth guy and it was a wash.
And it happens often. Its because of discourteous drivers. It can be avoided.
25+ years later how do I feel about that? I don't think I'd be doing that now. Is it the way to handle a situation like that? I don't know. It seemed like the quick fix to a f'ed up happening at the time. Some have reccomended getting the license blah blah blah but I don't see that working out.
Hello Steve, How you doing? Out riding yet? Being a retired LEO what is your spin on whether it helps to get the license # of a hazardous driver? Will some LEO honestly follow up on it or is it a feel good waste of time for the person who was agrieved?
One time when i was 4 this old lady who was atleast 6 cut me off on her big wheel. She was busy talking on her can phone. I followed her home and gave her a kiss cause she was so pretty.
Anyway, if this happens to me I will get the plate #, look them up, and put Harley stickers all over there car. I'm saving all the HD stickers I can get. If you want to mail me some PM me for my address. When I do this I will take pictures.

In Michigan I had someone run a light and broadside my car. Got their make/model and plate and filed a report. Cop looked in the database and said there were two problems with my report so he would not call them. 1) I said it was a '78 Trans Am but the plates were registered to a '79 pontiac. 2) I said it was a woman driving but thecar was registered to a guy. WTF?????
Then he told me someone almost nail him on his bike. He got the guy to come in by telling him a "Biker" filed the report. When the guy came in and started cussing about the dumb *** biker the cop gave him a ticket and let him know that "he" was that biker.
The judge threw it out because the driver said "I didn't do it". The cop was in court as a "citizen" involved in an accident and it was his word against the driver's.
Things always work out. The jerk that cut's you off will get cut off worst down the road.
Yes this thread is a year old, but to answer the question. I had a buddy who had his own company and he paid for a database to do background checks. It would also do plate numbers. You needed the # and state and it produced the registration information.
The FTC has this little article called the Fair Credit Reporting Act and your buddy who signed up for that service to do background checks with more than probably agreed to adhere to that act in order to use the service. It would be against the FCRAto use someone's information against them in this manor. And you dont want BIG brother on your back.
