Riding during our off season is really hot for sure. If you stop for any length of time the bikes start to ping like you are dropping bolts in the motor. Sure makes you cringe.
The other bad thing is all the oil comes to the surface is on the road and with temps on surface about 180 you totally dont want to go down and get burned.
Tomorrow it is going to be 99 and with the completion of AZ Bike Week our riding season for most just ended. Now the wait for November.
I put most of my miles on in the summer months. Ride out of town before dawn and spend the day at higher elevations, then come home after the sun sets.

Well they say Marines are tough or maybe not! Maybe when you say for most you are not including yourself. I have ridden the valley in the summer, it's usually only bad in the afternoon on days above 110. At least this 82 year young gentleman wants to ride, he's not putting his ride up for the summer. The fact that he is still riding at 82 gives me hope that I will be able to do so too!
82 years old...hell you might not live to see those 110 degree days--they are a few days away!! lol at that age, you must be retired. head to colorado for the next few months.
I may not live that long. I have had 2 heart attacks, 4 stints, the 2nd fefibulater (2 wire) and an Ablation operation . I may not live to ride it but when I get back to Az. In about 2 months I will start working on it. I will work it for 3 or 4 weeks and then startr. riding it.
It's not bad as long as traffic is moving with some hydration vest and neck cooling bandanna too bad they don't allow lane splitting but I do any way if traffic comes to complete stop otherwise its feel like engine is on fire under the seat.Bad part is I have to go twice in summer for grand kids birthdays end of May and worse is end of July wife flies but I won't put my life in some one else hands.
I find it funny when people talk about heat and , it's to hot, my thighs get hot, the heat is unbearable , I only ride at night or early morning, I ride only a couple days a year when it's cool. OMG! Man up ladies and ride. As for being 82 years old and still riding bless you man . Man as the years go by more and more men are become more like babies. What happened to the leather faced HD rider with bugs in his teeth <(figure of speech) .
You're still riding at 82 heat is not gonna bother you man. Here in Idaho we get up into the triple digits as well and it's fine. If those that want to be cool while riding should stay in their cages... Come guy's what the hell happened to you guys... Man up!
Now just in case someone gets butt hurt.... get bent it's just my .$02
