Rode 230 miles today. My arss is sore. I'm 6' and 170 lbs. Ride my 2013 street glide solo 90% of the time. Like the looks of the stock seat but not the comfort for longer rides. Whats good that doesn't look like an overstuffed sofa?
With the right seat you should be able to ride hundreds of miles with little to no discomfort. Harley dealers have "demo" seats try one out for a weekend. Also, I had a Heritage Springer that became increasingly uncomfortable after a couple of hours and almost unbearable after that. I purchased an "AirHawk" seat cushion for it and rode 900mi. over a weekend with no discomfort. A cheap alternative to getting a new seat.
If you are over 160lbs you need to add something under the memory foam. Like a gel insert etc...
Folks under 160 in most cases can do just memory foam and it also depends on what Foam they use-grade. Double layer helps with under 160lbs.
just a thought.
Just picked up a new Corbin Gunfighter in a distressed brown with red & silver stitching. Got a couple hundred miles on it and liking it so far. From the Corbin store in Ormond Beach, FL. About half the price of a comparable (in my opinion) Le Pera down the street at Destination.
But the comfort may just be dumb luck, as I didn't try any out before buying. I agree that you should try out a demo seat or two if anyone in your area has them. Then shop. Seat prices can vary greatly for models that have equal comfort for you.
I sent mine to a place to have it reworked with memory foam and my *** is more sore now. I am same size as you.
Same here. My *** is more sore with the memory foam. Call the company that did the memory foam and they said it takes 800 to a 1000 mile for the memory foam to brake in. Whatever that means.
I still like C&C for the perfect combo of looks and comfort. They will build it any which way you want....memory foam, gel inserts, leather vinyl, etc. Still the best value out there in my opinion.
Have demoed a Sundowner and although it seemed better, I did not have enough time to take it on a long ride. Did not like the look either but may have to get used to that. Starting to think a solo seat and removable passenger pillion. Going to give the Airhawk cushion a look too. Thanks for input so far.
