Customizing and performance questions
Let me start with I have a 2010 streetbob that I've done a lot too. Always get compliments on it and I can zip through the streets it has get up n go. Even rode it to Cali, Vegas, Moab, and sturgis. The ol'lady wants my bike and we bought a 2008 Electra glide ultra classic for touring and riding 2 up. I've ride it a couple times and it really doesn't fit my style/me. I'm not sure I even want to keep it at this point. I know I want to sleek it down, take off the touring pack and a low profile seat.
So my questions what's the best stage 1 combo to get some horse power/get up n go? And also looking for pics and inspiration of ultra classics that have been sleeked down for around town riding. Maybe if I can get a pick in my head of what to do to it, it'll give me reason to keep it and build it.
Thank you for any help/ideas. I'm not in a rush to build this bike as I still have my bar hopper and the ol'lady doesn't take her class til June.

Not sure you can or want to make the bagger what you are looking for. They are big heavy cruisers. Having said that, a tuned stage 1 will perk it up. Get rid of the cat and that will help as well. I just did a 107 kit with cams/head porting and it is a lot faster, but still a touring sled.
Edit: sorry 2008. No cat.

I appreciate the reply and that it'll never be like my streetbob. Did your stage 1 set up give a noticeable difference, or did you do the 107 kit and cams all at the same time?

...... put the OL on the back & run'r up to Aspen for lunch (after they open Independence, of course)
.... or head to Buena Vista for breakfast
........ that's when you'll understand what the touring bike is for
.... it's never gonna be a Dyna-class ride
......... but when yer blow'n across South Park, 2 up, one handed, w/the cruise @ 80 & your feet on the highway pegs, you will not in any way/shape/form miss your Bob.

ps: a simple stage one will give that 96 plenty of grunt to haul you over the Passes !
..... and if you want to go 103/106/107 w/a new cam, your batwing baby turns into a locomotive.

You can make the tour pack detachable, the lower farings easily come off and then it will look like a street glide, stage one will help, cams will help more, if you do a big bore do the heads at the same time, I had to do my bike in stages, plus the gearing on 07 and 08's was not very good, I have a friend that put a smaller tranny gear on and he loves it now. And yes it is a touring bike, two different animals.

First of all the 08 touring bikes might have the worst gearing ever, 32 trans 66 rear wheel(2.79). I put a 68(2.87) on the rear and will probably go to a 31 trans(2.96, a 30t will get you 3.05 with the 68t). No cats in the headpipe and only cats in the mufflers IF it was a California model. I have a FLHX and went with a solo saddle to give it a more sleek look, no freaking tour paks and I love the look of a 2-1 on a bagger as I think it makes it look less like a touring bike. I also found a 18" front wheel off a 2010 FLHX and it helps the look as well, I think it lightens up the look of the front end. Motor stuff is your personal preference but I had to go a bit more than an a/c, exhaust, tuner route and went more aggressive with it, cams, higher comp, head work, 58tb, etc. I also had to get better shocks and a true track as I would get a bit loose/wandering feeling in the higher speed sweepers.
This bike as it sits is pretty darn fun to ride in the canyons or on the highway, sure I'd love more power but it does pretty good for what it is.
I don't think I have any pics of my bike since I went with the solo saddle and the 18" front wheel.

First thing on my list of things to do would be to make everything "quick detach". Thats why I love RoadKings. The bike you see in my signature pic can be outfitted in a few minutes in full touring mode with batwing, tourpak, passenger pillion, driver backrest, etc. as my needs dictates, or as it is most of the time shown in the pic.
You can get respectable power improvements by doing cams, and a few other "while your at its" and as mentioned change the final drive gearing. The 32/66 you have now needs to be changed to at least 32/68 to move into the usable power zone.

Yeah you can turn that '08 into a very versatile fun machine!

The touring pack is coming off and going quick release as soon as I get a low profile seat. Just for curiosity what's the 32t/68t run, is it easy to do. To be honest I did all the work on my dyna, but this bike is a lil intimidating. I want some bagger apes, but not sure I wanna tackle put them on myself with all those buttons and switches. What's a good stage 1 combo. On my dyna I used V&H short shots and race tuner, and I can't remember what AC.
