1. Stock headers have a "cat" material which generates the heat people are complaining about. Do the V&H true dual headers have this material or are they a clean pipe? I purchased my bike used (2011 SG). It has the V&H dresser duals with the O2 sensors. I came off an 02 RK, so I am new to all this Cat Chit.
2. Do people get rid of the O2 sensors all together?,
There is no cat material in the V&H Dresser Duals. Leave the O2 sensors connected. If you have a heavy breather as well, then you should have the V&H Fuelpak installed (or something like it). The O2's are bypassed in that case.
The pipes having or not having a catalytic converter, has nothing to do with them having or not having 02 sensors.
But to answer your question, the V&H head pipes do not have a "cat". But they do have the 02 sensor bungs.
If the tuner of your choice still uses the 02 sensors, you will want to keep them intact.
Some tuners do not use the 02 sensors, so in those cases you don't have to use the 02 sensors. You can just put a plug into the bung.
The bike came with the SE race tuner with a dyno sheet stuffed in the box it came in. 85hp 103tq. The O2 sensors are still hooked up. The reason for the questions is because of the heat other riders are talking about. It hasn't got enough around here yet so I was planning for the worst but it seems what I have is as good as it is going to get as far as the heat is concerned.
Now I need to figure out what type of pipes are installed on my bike. They are not stock, they are slash cut type with no name stamped on them anywhere.
